Biography

Bernardo di Miceli is born and baptized 23 October 1787. He is the son of Innocenzo di Miceli[1] and Castrenza Cannino (or Carlino; his mother's name does not appear in Bernardo's baptismal record).[2] Bernardo's godparents are his paternal uncle and neighbor, Simone di Miceli, and Liboria Collura, who are unmarried.[3]

Bernardo appears, age 19 (b. 1788), in the 1807 stato delle animo, a Church census. He lives with his parents, paternal grandmother, and seven of his sisters and brothers, in the third vanella, or alley, from the Canzoneri church, traveling away from Santa la Croce di Elena. Their neighbors include the families of his paternal uncles Simone and Francesco di Miceli, and of Gaetano Oliveri.[4]

Bernardo marries Emmanuela Collura, daughter of Antonino Collura and Rosa Gammanta, on 10 January 1813. His parents are both still living. This record calls his mother Castrenza Carlino.[5]

Per his church death record, Bernardo dies at the age of 68 (he is actually 65) in October 1853, about two weeks before his 66th birthday. His wife, Emmanuella, survives him.[6][7]

His son Leoluca Di Miceli marries Maria Concetta Milone in September 1869.[8]
